Unless otherwise indicated, a grade of C or higher is required for all prerequisite courses.
This course provides a survey of the core principles of general chemistry, specifically tailored for Health Science and Allied Health majors. Topics span from the metric system, scientific measurement, chemical bonding, solution chemistry, acids and bases, redox reactions, gases, stoichiometry, as well as the study of chemical equilibrium; with particular care and attention given to how these areas of study relate to biological systems. The integrated laboratory component introduces students to fundamental qualitative and quantitative techniques, as well as the study of chemical reactions. This sequence is not intended for students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or pre-professional programs. Students who complete the CHEM 210-220 sequence and subsequently take CHEM 410-420 will only receive academic credit for CHEM 210-220.
