Course Description

This course explores the history of women, gender, and sexuality in United States from pre-contact to the present. Specific attention is dedicated to examining the ways that women and gender impacted colonization, revolution, and the formation of the U.S. Constitution. Further attention is dedicated to how the U.S. Constitution and government institutions evolved in response to the ever-changing social, economic, and political demands of women and the ever-changing dynamics of gender and sexuality. Emphasis is given to the voices of marginalized communities traditionally excluded from the narratives of U.S. History.
