SparkPoint/Free Groceries
SparkPoint at College of San Mateo offers students and members of the public access to financial coaching, public benefits enrollment, and free weekly groceries. Meet with a financial coach to create a budget, develop your credit, eliminate debt, and/or sign up for benefits like CalFresh or MediCal. The program offers a variety of fresh vegetables and fruit, protein, including chicken and milk, and dry goods, including pasta and rice. Interested individuals must complete a one-time self-declaration form. There is no proof of income or citizenship required. Health Services
The Health Services Center is located in Public Safety/Medical Services Building 1, Room 147, (650) 574-6396, and is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 am - 6:00 pm during fall and spring semesters. Summer hours may vary. Appointments are made by calling (650) 574-6396 or emailing csmwellness@smccd.edu. Free health center services include confidential medical consultation, information and counseling on health questions, nurse practitioner or physician evaluation of symptoms, first aid treatment, over-the-counter medications, certain prescription refills, referrals to health or social agencies when needed or requested. Free screening procedures that are offered when the clinic is open for in-person services include hearing testing, vision screening, TB skin testing, and blood pressure & blood sugar screenings. Additional services that are offered for a minimal fee include physicals, gynecological exams, lab work, vaccines, and prescription medications. Accidents on campus should be reported to the Health Services Center in Public Safety/Medical Services Building 1, Room 147, (650) 574-6396, csmwellness@smccd.edu, and to Business Services, located in the College Center Building 10, Room 439, (650) 574-6220. Limited campus insurance coverage is offered for student injuries on campus or on a college-sponsored trip.
Personal Counseling
Personal Counseling offers free confidential counseling to students at College of San Mateo regarding crisis, stresses, personal issues, and decisions to enable students to continue successfully in college.
