Program Overview
Students enroll in courses encompassing various disciplines, integrating verbal and imaginal (primarily visual) learning, all supported by a comprehensive pedagogical approach centered on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). This framework explores the intersection of neuroscience and art history and the connections between computer science, media arts, and fine arts. The mental imagery program enhances skills in imaginal thinking (the mental manipulation of images). The certificate courses introduce students to various theories and practices related to mental imagery and prepare them for potential careers in emerging fields within science and media, such as the fabric design industry, advertising, and entertainment industry, where imaginal thinking is often as essential, if not more so, than verbal thinking. It also equips students for advanced upper-division and graduate-level academic pursuits, particularly interdisciplinary ones.
