Minimum Grade for Prerequisites

Unless otherwise indicated, a grade of C or higher is required for all prerequisite courses.

Course Description

This course is designed to improve multilingual students' low-intermediate vocabulary and comprehension skills and build general background knowledge. Specifically, students will be taught how to use context clues to assist with understanding, to identify the subject, main ideas, and supporting details of a reading, and to make inferences. They will practice these skills in low-intermediate texts of approximately 1 page long. It is recommended that students enroll concurrently in ESL 826 or higher-level writing course and ESL 846 or higher-level conversation course.
